Colonial Flame
The Colonial style began after the creation of Colonial furniture in the mid-1600s to mid- 1700s. The simple and flexible furniture was made by the American colonists and was designed with influence from England. Colonial-style decorating reflects the styles of that era, using furniture that vary from rustic to refined, to sturdy yet simple, to distinctive, to formal and casual. Colonial architecture is generally inspired by classic Greek and French aristocratic style using plaster and painted wood mouldings, ornate dado rails and panelling. Colours include soft, elegant and non-saturated shades of pale peach, pinks, soft blues, greens, yellows and browns. The fabrics that are mostly used are cotton, wool, linen and leather.
