Hamptons Darling

The Hamptons style home originated on the East Coast of Long Island, America, in the beach house haven of affluent New Yorkers. But if there’s one culture that has well and truly adopted the Hamptons-esque vibe, it’s Australians. Hamptons style homes are also beachy and remindful of holidays but there is a difference between Coastal style homes and Hamptons. Costal homes have more space to play around with bright feature pillows, artworks, throws and accessories, while Hamptons style homes work best with deep blue brocade, paisley or geometric prints. It’s a look that is made up of many elements coming together to create an interior decorating style that is crisp yet relaxed, coastal yet classic. We see natural textures; plain white walls and timber floors with sisal rugs, wicker furniture, classic works of art and carefully curated homewares in signature colourways such as soft green, teal, whites and creams, and wonderful wainscoting; timber moulding along hallways and staircases. Hamptons homes are tailor-made for relaxing, making window seats a common feature. Wall sconces mounted around mirrors add traditional charm. Shaker-style cabinetry, quality materials such as marble, elegant exterior, chic outdoor furniture, graceful greenery, and clever cladding are all staples of the Hamptons Style.
